Review of the Brother MFC-J625WPrinter

Tabloid size prints is increasingly becoming popular because small enterprises are deciding to create their own marketing materials. The Brother MFC-J625W is a multifunction printer that can print on an 11” x 17” media size. It should not be mistaken for the costlier MFC-J625W because this version is being marketed as a tabloid-capable entry level multifunction printer. Although graphic output is not as vibrant as expected, it has an acceptable overall quality for micro-business application. On the other hand, photo prints appeared over saturated creating a look of overall tint on the output. Most of these concerns on print results can be addressed with cheapest ink cartridges integrated in the system.

The MFC-J625W and other Brother MFC in the series cannot be outranked in terms of speed. It produces 4 effective pages per minute which h is a speed considered higher that most MFP’s in its level. On the other hand, its capacity to print on tabloid-size papers does not extend to scanning them. This is basically due to the smaller flatbed. This downsizing does not actually produce an entirely negative effect. Aside from cutting down on the cost of the unit, it made the printer more compact. In each function of the MFC-J625W, the cost-effectiveness of generic ink cannot be underestimated.

Part of the attractions of many sophisticated printers is the capability to fax from a PC. The MFC-J625W has it as well as direct email. This and the direct internet fax features can be availed through a type of firmware upgrade. Two different media types cannot be loaded on the 250-sheet tray at the same time. Because of Wi-Fi and wired network support, sharing the printer with other users is inevitable. The step up volume of printing and copying jobs needs a generic ink cartridge for consistent and sustained printing.

The cost of printing one color page on Brother  MFC-J625W is 7.4 cents and 1.7 cents for black and white page. These computations are far below what other printer deliver. This is a printing cost efficiency that will undermine some of the lacking features. Not having the capability to load two paper types at the same time maybe a major issue to some users but just fine with others. It all boils down to the printing needs of every user.
