The Dell 1600n is a multifunction monochrome laser printer that is perfect for use in a small office environment or with small workgroups. It comes with copy, scan and fax capabilities, although you cannot actually scan or fax over a network. For the price you pay for the Dell 1600n you get a decent print quality, with 600x600 dpi resolution prints which increase to 600x1200 dpi for color scanning. As this is only designed for use by a small workgroup, it is unsurprising that its maximum monthly duty print cycle is just 15,000 pages, although this is more than enough to meet the printing needs of a small business office or home office.

 

The only major issue with the Dell 1600n is that it only has software compatible with Windows operating systems. This is admittedly is not that much of a problem if your computers run on Windows, but it does spell bad news for users of Mac, Linux, or Unix operating systems. On a more positive final note, the Dell 1600n works perfectly well with re-filled discount toner cartridges, which means that re-filling the ink in the Dell 1600n never again has to be an outrageously expensive affair, as you can just use generic discount toner cartridges in the printer.
