Review of the HP LaserJet CM2320 & CP2025 Printers
by Conrado

For some people who are too busy to go around various procedures in printing, ease of use can be their main priority in looking for a printer. Surprisingly, the HP LaserJet CM2320 focusesin this convenient feature. Its cutting edge component for this purpose is the touch screen panel in full color. To operate the printer with this type of control system is truly irresistible. The interesting part in this package is that this component is built into an MFP intended for home and small office use. Other than this enhancement, there is nothing really special with this printer as you will see. In addition, one enhancement that can bring equally astonishing result is introducing generic ink toner as a cost-effective replacement.

There is really nothing new with the basic print, scan, copy, and fax functions. Being a standalone copier and fax equipment is also standard for most all-in-one printers. Other standard MFP features for a home printer are the 150-sheet input tray and manual duplexer. There is no provision for additional paper tray to upgrade the unit’s paper handling capacity. The qualities of the CM2320not common to all small size MFP are Wi-Fi support and even the 35-page automatic document feeder. On the other hand, utilizing generic discount toner cartridges are already common in the industry.

I just wonder why after a lot of the printer’s hardware is reduced to the minimum, it still came out bulky for a home printer. It is somewhat heavy at 50.1 lbs and measures 16.3” tall, 17.4” wide, and 18.6” deep. I am pretty sure that HP did not use vacuum tubes to assemble the sleek touchscreen control. The funny part in this scenario is that you are limited to 30 pages per day even though the unit can be considered medium-sized. Other printers of this size have standard input trays handling 250 sheets of paper. Nonetheless, the Pro CM1415fnw has lower running cost especially when generic toner is installed.

In actual print test, this printer only came up with 2.9 effective pages per minute. This is quite slow for a dual role printer but could be just enough for home use. If you are not too meticulous, you can consider the text output as superb for laser printers. Graphics are of the same quality which can be utilized as impressive promotional prints. Photo prints did not come out the same way having some issues on the outcome of the colors. It seems that the emphasis made on the controls will not overshadow the real features users want from their home printer.
