Review of the Samsung ML-2570, ML-2571N Printers

Samsung ML-2570 is a well-designed mono laser printer with a superbly high speed for a machine just costing around £80. Its print quality is excellent despite the lack of duplex, wireless printing and other standard features. The machine is off white in color with pale grey panels and has a small footprint. There is an A4 paper tray that hides at the back of this powerful machine. This printer feels like a scaled down version of professional office equipment although it is much of a SOHO machine than an office machine. It has a fold over output tray that acts as a cover for dust when the printer is idle. You do not have to worry about paper jams if you forget to open the cover tray before printing. This is because the unit is designed for the paper to come out onto the desktop through a slot at the hinge.

It has a simple control panel that contains an illuminated button for power, a large button for cancelling jobs and the other one for providing automatic screen print. Everything is controlled from Samsung driver with 2 LEDs that indicate paper jam and low toner. It has a 250 sheet paper tray that sits at the bottom part of the front panel.

Directly above it is a single sheet feed slot that contains adjustable guides suitable for envelops and special media. The back part has a USB port, the only data connection mode for Samsung ML-2570 printer. The toner cartridges and single piece drum slides at the back of the fold down front cover and has two toner capacities that are different from each other. Replacing the cartridge takes as less as under ten seconds. Being a laser jet printer Samsung ML-2570 supports use of other toners like low cost generic toner refill. The best thing about generic toner is that it is cheap and leads to reduced running costs.

Samsung ML-2570 offers a Web print utility so you can enjoy printing a portion or the whole page by fitting them on the paper automatically. This unit can print documents at the rate of 24 ppm, a speed higher than what most printers offer. The output quality is also good compared to other mono lasers. The two toner cartridges and drum lasts for 2500 and 1500 pages respectively, but if you use generic ink toner cartridges it will last much longer. Printed text is usually clear, clean and sharp printed at the resolution of 1200dpi. This makes Samsung ML-2570 printer ideal for any office use when color is not an issue of concern.
